    Fordite jewelry!

Fordite, also known as Detroit Agate, may be considered a gemstone but is in fact not a stone at all. It is made entirely of automotive paint and dates back to 1940s from Ford automotive plants. Back in the day, the method used to paint cars allowed overspray of excess paint to build up, layer upon layer. As the heat cured the paint, it created a solid structure known as Fordite. At the time, it was just considered waste but has now become a rare, precious beauty. Cars are no longer painted the same way, which means that whatever Fordite there is still in the world is all that’s left. It must be cherished as unique, which is why we have taken it and transformed it into beautiful, distinctive jewelry pieces/art that you can wear.
